Christopher Reiger, PhD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Reiger earned his B.A. from Northwestern University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Miami University, where he trained at the Center for School-Based Mental Health Programs and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His work has centered on school-based mental health with a focus on trauma-informed and culturally responsive systems of support. He is especially interested in participatory action approaches that elevate youth voice, strengthen community partnerships, and improve the implementation of evidence-based practices.

Prior to joining BCSC-Maine, Dr. Reiger provided clinical services and systems consultation in outpatient, educational, and nonprofit settings. He has extensive experience developing and leading trauma-informed programming in schools and community organizations, with a particular emphasis on Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

Dr. Reiger’s therapeutic approach integrates cognitive-behavioral and family systems models within a developmental psychopathology framework. He views behavior as shaped by developmental stage, environment, and lived experience, and often reframes challenging or ineffective behavior as a mismatch between skills and environmental demands. His work focuses on building competencies, strengthening relationships, and addressing systemic factors that influence well-being.

Cultural humility and responsiveness are central to Dr. Reiger’s practice. He is committed to honoring clients’ identities, values, and lived experiences through ongoing reflection, dialogue, and collaborative care.

Outside of clinical work, he enjoys exploring Maine’s coastline, playing tennis, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
