Postdoctoral Fellow

Danna Bismar is a post-doctoral fellow at the Boston Child Study Center – Los Angeles and Maine, where she is supervised by Dr. Ryan Madigan. Dr. Bismar earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology at Southern Methodist University and her Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Texas. She recently completed her pre-doctoral internship in the Child/Adolescent Track at Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare in New Jersey where she specialized in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents who present with a variety of complex mental health and developmental concerns.

Dr. Bismar’s approach to therapy is tailored to the unique strengths, struggles, and cultures of every client and family. She has experience working with individuals, families, and groups from diverse backgrounds in various settings, including outpatient, university counseling, partial hospitalization programs, and intensive outpatient programs. She has extensive training in evidence-based psychotherapies, with an emphasis in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Dr. Bismar’s research has primarily focused on multicultural identity development among children of immigrants. She has passed the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) and is currently accruing her clinical training hours to become a licensed clinical psychologist.
