Undergraduates and post-baccalaureates interested in volunteering with children and their families can apply for clinical assistant positions at BCSC. Clinical assistants are largely involved in the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) clinic. The PCIT clinic is directed by Dr. Joshua Masse, a Master Trainer endorsed by PCIT International, and is staffed by clinical psychologists, licensed mental health counselors, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical externs. Clinical assistants work closely with the PCIT team and are responsible for data entry, administrative tasks, preparing therapy session materials, and childcare. Clinical assistants also attend weekly PCIT clinical team rounds, observe PCIT sessions, learn and utilize therapeutic play techniques, and become familiar with behavioral coding systems.

If interested, clinical assistants have the opportunity to participate in BCSC outside of the PCIT clinic. This can include assisting with group therapy sessions, acting as a confederate for exposures, assisting with research initiatives, and working on a variety of Executive Functioning/Learning and Organizational Skills projects. Clinical assistants also have the chance to work with neuropsychologists, observing neuropsychological testing and/or learning to score assessments. Finally, clinical assistants may attend clinical rounds and/or educational seminars.

Interested applicants should have availability on Tuesday afternoons between 12pm-6pm in addition to another weekday afternoon for a total of 10-12 hours per week. Please send a resume/CV and a brief cover letter to Dr. Christine André at Candre@bostonchildstudycenter.com with the subject line “Clinical Assistant Application.”
